This evening it was encouraging to hear from Matthew and Bob, who gave an overview of the work SASRA has undertaken over the last twelve months in Britain and Germany.
In 1818 SASRA emerged as an informal organisation among the troops, but now work among both the RAF and army. Scripture Readers are all gifted evangelists who have previously served in the armed force.
Bob gave an update of the work carried out in Sennybridge, Castle Martin and Cawdor Barracks. There have been encouragements in Castlemartin where SASRA has been well recieved, with several soldiers visiting Westgate Church in Pembroke.
To quote Matthew, “The Welsh are always great supporters of SASRA especially here in Pembrokeshire. It’s been good to advance the work among the SASRA-supporting churches.”
Today, Matthew had the opportunity of addressing the Officers in Cawdor Barracks. There has been great progress in Cawdor with more Christians on site, and in the future there are plans to hold a midweek meetings encouraging soldiers to visit the church on camp and to discus the Gospel.
